Chasm: The Rift (also known as Chasm: The Shadow Zone) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ukrainian studio Action Forms and published by Megamedia Corporation in 1997 for the MS-DOS operating system. The game is set across various locations, including military bases, ancient Egyptian tombs, medieval settings, and an alien world.
The idea for the game first came in 1997 when Spytihněv considered developing a game similar to Quake or Chasm: The Rift. [8] The game was announced in September 2019. [9] The early access version was released on 29 January 2021, and included the first of three episodes called Kiss me Gustav. [2]
Action Forms was founded by art director Yaroslav Kravchenko, lead programmer Oleg Slusar, executive director Igor Karev, and deputy director Denis Vereschagin. Krevchenko and Slusar had been "addicted" to the game Doom and wanted to develop a similar game.
