A 1915 map showing Victoria in the north shore of Hong Kong Island (below); Kowloon peninsula (above) was not part of the colony until 1860. In 1903, the Hong Kong Government erected several boundary stones to mark the limits of Victoria, measuring 98 cm in height, tapered at the top and with the inscription "City Boundary 1903".

The park first opened to the public in October 1957 and was revamped in the early 2000s. Owned and operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong, [3] [4] the park is open all year, free of admission charge. [5] It is Hong Kong's most popular public park, with more visitors than Hong Kong Park and Kowloon Park combined. [6]

Victoria Gap (Chinese: 爐峰峽) is an area and a mountain pass located between the summits of Victoria Peak (aka. Mount Austin) and Mount Gough , on Hong Kong Island , in Hong Kong . [ 1 ] It is the most touristic place within the area referred to as The Peak , which receives some seven million visitors every year.
