A calcium–aluminium-rich inclusion or Ca–Al-rich inclusion (CAI) is a submillimeter- to centimeter-sized light-colored calcium- and aluminium-rich inclusion found in carbonaceous chondrite meteorites. The four CAIs that have been dated using the Pb-Pb chronometer yield a weighted mean age of 4567.30 ± 0.16 Myr.
The following inclusion types can also be found in aluminium alloys: alumina needles (Al 2 O 3), nitrides (AlN), iron oxides (FeO), manganese oxides (MnO), fluorides (Na 3 AlF 6, NaF, CaF 2, …), aluminium borides (AlB 2, AlB 12), borocarbides (Al 4 C 4 B). Bone ash (Ca 3 (PO 4) 2) sometimes added to patch cracks in the trough can be found as ...
They contain 19–22% total iron and only 0.3–3% metallic iron. That means that most of the iron is present as iron oxide (FeO) in the silicates; olivine contains 26 to 32 mol% fayalite (Fa).
Al-Ca composite is a high-conductivity, high-strength, lightweight composite consisting of sub-micron-diameter pure calcium metal filaments embedded inside a pure aluminium metal matrix. The material is still in the development phase, but it has potential use as an overhead high-voltage power transmission conductor . [ 1 ]
The main constituent, and also the most reactive phase, of calcium aluminate cements is the monocalcium aluminate (CaAl 2 O 4 = CaO · Al 2 O 3, also written as CA in the cement chemist notation). It usually contains other calcium aluminates as well as a number of less reactive phases deriving from impurities in the raw materials.
Calcium aluminosilicate, an aluminosilicate compound with calcium cations, most typically has formula CaAl 2 Si 2 O 8. [1] In minerals, as a feldspar, it can be found as anorthite, an end-member of the plagioclase series.
For example, Na and Al give the jadeite (NaAlSi 2 O 6) composition. Coupled substitution of a 1+ ion on the X site and a mixture of equal numbers of 2+ and 4+ ions on the Y site. This leads to e.g., NaFe 2+ 0.5 Ti 4+ 0.5 Si 2 O 6 .
This also called '3:2 mullite' to distinguish it from 2Al 2 O 3 ·SiO 2, Al 4 SiO 8 '2:1 mullite'. 2Al 2 O 3 ·SiO 2, Al 4 SiO 8 '2:1 mullite'. [6] The above list mentions ternary materials (Si-Al-O). Kaolinite is a quaternary material (Si-Al-O-H). Also called aluminium silicate dihydrate, kaolinite occurs naturally as a mineral. Its formula is ...
