The scuppernong is a large variety of muscadine (Vitis rotundifolia), [1] a species of grape native to the southern United States. It is usually a greenish or bronze color and is similar in appearance and texture to a white grape, but rounder and larger.
The irises of human eyes exhibit a wide spectrum of colours. Eye color is a polygenic phenotypic trait determined by two factors: the pigmentation of the eye's iris [1] [2] and the frequency-dependence of the scattering of light by the turbid medium in the stroma of the iris. [3]: 9
Trichromatic color vision is the ability of humans and some other animals to see different colors, mediated by interactions among three types of color-sensing cone cells. The trichromatic color theory began in the 18th century, when Thomas Young proposed that color vision was a result of three different photoreceptor cells .
The cooperative eye hypothesis is not the only one that has been proposed to explain the appearance of the human eye. Other hypotheses include the proposal that white sclerae are a sign of good health, useful in mate selection , or that eye visibility promotes altruistic behaviour by letting people know they are being watched.
Monochromacy (from Greek mono, meaning "one" and chromo, meaning "color") is the ability of organisms to perceive only light intensity without respect to spectral composition. Organisms with monochromacy lack color vision and can only see in shades of grey ranging from black to white.
While color vision is dependent on many factors, discussion of the evolution of color vision is typically simplified to two factors: the breadth of the visible spectrum (which wavelengths of light can be detected), and; the dimensionality of the color gamut (e.g. dichromacy vs. tetrachromacy).
What Does Spam Taste Like? Photo credit: Tannis Toohey - Getty Images. Spam is truly delicious. It's salty and a little spicy with a flavor most similar to ham and a texture close to bologna.
Dichromacy in humans is a form of color blindness (color vision deficiency). Normal human color vision is trichromatic, so dichromacy is achieved by losing functionality of one of the three cone cells. The classification of human dichromacy depends on which cone is missing: Protanopia is a severe form of red-green color blindness, in which the ...
