The church was dedicated by Bishop McGuinness on February 25, 1940 and named after Catherine of Siena, the patron saint of Price. In 1947 Father Tevlin, the priest at St. Catherine's, built St. Eugene's Church in Wendell as a daughter parish. In 1948 John Hyland succeeded Tevlin as priest of St. Catherine's and St. Eugene's.
In July 1991, Monsignor Richard J. Shea was installed as the fourth Pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish. Appointed to serve the Parish by then-Bishop Edward M. Egan, Msgr. In 1981, a parent reported to the archdiocese that his 12 year old son had been sexually molested that day by Reverend Michael S. Lawrence at St. Catharine of Siena Parish in Mount Penn. The archdiocese removed Lawrence from the parish the next day and sent him to Maryland for treatment. A year later, the archdiocese returned Lawrence to ministry.
