A post office called White Hall has been in operation since 1827. [4] In 1830 a David Barrow was the first person to build and in a location that would become White Hall. The hotel was one of the city's "big four" post-fire hotels, the other three being the Grand Pacific, Palmer House, and the Sherman House.
