Eupora was established in 1889 by European Americans on a spur track of the Georgia Pacific Railway.While there had been agricultural development prior to this in the county, the railroad stimulated trade and businesses.
Karl Oliver (born March 24, 1963) is a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for District 46, which encompasses Carroll, Grenada, Leflore, Montgomery, and Webster counties in the north central portion of his state.
Oliver Clifton was born in about 1847 in Jackson, Mississippi. [1] [2] He first became the mayor of Jackson from 1870 to 1871. [2] [3] He then served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from his election in 1875 to 1878, representing Hinds County. [2] [4] He married Marion Yerger in 1877.
James Oliver Eastland (November 28, 1904 – February 19, 1986) was an American attorney, plantation owner, and politician from Mississippi. A Democrat , he served in the United States Senate in 1941 and again from 1943 until his resignation on December 27, 1978.
The limited growth Eudora has seen, mostly new homes, likely results from its proximity to the casino district at Robinsonville, 10 miles (16 km) to the west. Also spurring interest in the area is the 2007 opening of the I-69 freeway which makes commuting to Memphis easier. Eudora is served by this new route with exits at Fogg Road and MS Hwy 301.
