The following is a list of animated works as commissioned by Allspark Animation (a subsidiary of American toy company Hasbro; previously credited under Hasbro Studios) as a part of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls toy line and media franchise, which is a spin-off of the 2010 incarnation of Hasbro's main My Little Pony franchise.
The first served as a tie-in to the 2013 direct-to-video film My Little Pony: Equestria Girls; [35] published on October 30, 2013, it contains two prequel stories set before the events of that film. The second, published on September 24, 2014, is an offshoot of "Power Ponies," an episode from the fourth season of the Friendship Is Magic ...
The resulting show, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, was well received by parents, but found another unexpected target audience through the Internet image board 4chan amongst males, many of whom are adults. Quickly expanding through the Internet, the fandom came to use the term "brony" (a portmanteau of "bro" and "pony") to describe themselves.
Faust sought to challenge the established "girly" nature of the existing My Little Pony line, creating more in-depth characters and adventurous settings, incorporating Hasbro's suggestions for marketing of the toy line. From season 2 onward, E/I ("educational and informational") content was dropped in favor of only TV-Y, designed for ages 2 and up.
