The first fraternity to establish a chapter at Georgia Tech was Alpha Tau Omega in 1888, before the school held its first classes. Most of the IFC and NPC organizations have houses on Georgia Tech's campus, generally on or near Fifth Street, Ferst Avenue, Fowler Street, or Techwood Drive, in the area known as the Greek Sector. In 1902, the Chi Phi fraternity began to investigate the possibility of a presence at the Georgia School of Technology (now Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly known as Georgia Tech) in Atlanta. By 1904, there were eight members at Tech and on June 2 of that year, the Omega Chapter at the school was officially chartered. [1]
Since 1899, Delta Sigma Phi has issued 238 charters in 41 states (United States of America), Washington, D.C., and three provinces in Canada.Currently, the fraternity has active chapters and new chapters in 32 states and Washington, D.C.
In fall 1907, the chapter expanded to two additional rooms at the Benedict for $51.50 a month. With conditions becoming crowded at the Benedict, Alpha obtained its first official chapter house on October 24, 1910, located at 113 Waverly Place, New York, New York. A select number of chapters still have actual houses on college campuses.
