National Academy for Educational Management, illustrated as NAEM, is an affiliated academy to the Ministry of Education (Bangladesh), Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. This academy is dedicated to conducting training on education management, research and planning to ensure quality education in the country.

In 1985, the NIEMT was renamed the Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education (BIDE) which offered, apart from audio-visual materials, a Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme via distance learning validated by the University of Rajshahi. The success of BIDE encouraged policymakers to take up a major plan for establishing an open university.
In 2002 the Government of Bangladesh approved the University of Development Alternative (UODA), and now under 6 faculties, UODA offers undergraduate courses in over 14 subjects. The students can also achieve their master's degree in their respective subjects after their respective 4 years undergraduate programmes.

It is the first fully automated university library in Bangladesh using its own library management software. [10] [11] which supports RFID system, web-based online circulation system, full-text e-books and online journal article repository services. The library can accommodate over 1,200 students at a time in its reading rooms.
The school and centres organise education in colleges and improve the standard. The university provides bachelor's, honours and master's degrees in ten disciplines: languages, humanities, social science, commerce and business administration, physical sciences, mathematical sciences, biological science, education, law and computer technology.
