I believe that has something to do with the e-tubes, but a staticy sound especially brought on by noise I would say would be tinnitus.

It is temporarily relieved when I plug my nose and lightly blow to depressurize my sinuses but within a

  7. Loud noises cause ear to sound like a broken radio

For several years now, I have had a problem where if I am around loud noises, such as at a hockey game, rock concert, etc., my right ear "pops" (for lack of a better word) and the hearing in it sounds like a broken radio - kind of "static-y". I guess a good way to describe this is the way your ears feel when they pop on an airplane.

I can't predict when I'll hear static or the ear will pop--it doesn't correspond to noise levels at all. I've noticed the problem when talking to people in regular-volume conversations, playing a grand piano, and when a woman earlier today was shaking a tambourine; these are not the only times, but they come to mind as recent examples.

Recently I have been using in ear headphones in bed to listen to audio books to get to sleep (without them I can't sleep due to stress) and have noticed that my ear wax, particularly on the affected side is quite runny. I have also started cycling to work in the cold (1 hr per day). If anyone has any thoughts or advice I would be most grateful.
