A Quilt of Valor ® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”
A Quilt of Valor ® is a Civilian Award for the individual’s service and sacrifice to defend our County’s freedoms. As an Award, it deserves a proper ceremony from grateful mothers, daughters, fathers, aunts, peers –who nominate them for the award of a QOV.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 2003, has dedicated itself to comforting and honoring veterans and active military with these ‘healing quilts.’
The Quilt of Valor ® Foundation appreciates the service and sacrifice of those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces and protect our freedoms. In 2003, Catherine Roberts, the QOVF Founder, created the concepts that underpin the QOVF mission statement:

A Quilt of Valor is a quilt made to be awarded to a United States of America veteran. These quilts are made using high-quality 100% cotton and produced using a quilt pattern suitable for a quality quilt.
A Quilt of Valor is made of three layers and each layer has own special meaning: The top with its many colors, shapes and fabrics represents the communities and the many individuals we are. The batting, the filler, is the center of the quilt, its warmth.
The inspiring tale of Quilts of Valor exemplifies the ability of quilts to console and heal our veterans. A unique organization that recognizes and helps those who have served has been made possible by the founder’s vision and the commitment of volunteers.
