Closer to Grey is the sixth (chronologically seventh) and final studio album by American electronic music band Chromatics, released through Italians Do It Better without prior announcement on October 2, 2019. [12] It is their first album in seven years, and follows the continuing delay of Dear Tommy, originally teased in 2014. [13]

"Fade to Grey" is the first song ever written by Jars of Clay. It originally was recorded for the group's debut demo album, Frail , which was released in 1994. However, when the group recorded tracks for their self-titled debut album , time and budget issues were problems in being able to record the track.
The Washington Post wrote that the album "emphasizes hammering disco-metal but also encompasses Bowie-ish art-croon ('Miss Sway Action') and a sort of raga-rock ('Closer to Heaven')." [2] The Cleveland Scene called the album "coherent and engaging: a good starting point for the curious and an improvement for the longtime fan."
