A pen is a handheld device used to apply ink to a surface, usually paper, for writing or drawing. [1] Additional types of specialized pens are used in specific types of applications and environments such as in artwork, electronics, digital scanning and spaceflight, and computing.
The fudepen was invented by Sailor Fountain Pen Co. Ltd. in 1972, but Kuretake Co. Ltd. made it commercially successful with their release in 1973. Kuretake developed their fudepen through the application of felt-tip pen technology, after plans to export felt-tip pens were disrupted by the sudden appreciation of Japanese Yen due to the Nixon Shock. Huzhou's ink brush production and manufacture gained prominence in the Ming dynasty (13th century). Now Huzhou is known as the "Hometown of Ink Brush". [1] Huzhou also holds annual "Huzhou Ink Brush Festival", and the festival also has some memorial activities dedicated to Meng Tian - the inventor of ink brush pen. [2]
