Forestside is a shopping centre located in Newtownbreda in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. The first phase of the centre, the 39,000 square feet (3,600 m 2) Sainsbury's store, opened in March 1997 followed by the remainder of the centre in September 1998.
The Forestside Shopping Centre was developed by Sainsbury's between 1996 and 1998. [2] Belvoir Park Golf Club and Belvoir Forest Park are also located nearby. A 48,000 square feet (4,500 m 2) Tesco store was built on a brownfield site, (formerly a warehouse for the Stewarts Supermarket chain) and opened in 2007. [3] [4]

The village was founded in the early 17th century as part of the Plantation of Ulster, on land allocated to the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths of London.It remained a small settlement until the 1960s, until large amounts of social housing was built on adjoining townlands.
The course is immediately south of Belfast city centre and can be accessed in about 15 minutes from the city airport, city centre hotels and cruise liner port. To east and west are attractions: Belvoir Park Forest and Forestside Shopping centre; to the south is a motorway and to the north is an estate of large houses.
