Pie Island (French: Île Pâté, or simply Le Pâté) is an island in Lake Superior, Ontario, Canada, located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of Thunder Bay and 25 kilometres (16 mi) north of Isle Royale, Michigan. It is about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long with an area of 46 square kilometres (18 sq mi).
A two-time Isle of Man TT race winner, in 1986, Laycock finished runner-up to Brian Reid in the TT Formula 2 World Championship. [1] In 1987 he beat Reid to win the Junior TT 250cc race, [2] and in 1989 won the Supersport 400cc Race.

The name for the formation originates from the description of strata near the "south cape of Thunder Bay" by C. C. Douglas in 1841, this area also represents the type locality of the formation. Due to negligence by multiple later workers, the area was later referred to as the Partridge Point Formation by Warthin & Cooper in 1935.
