Queensrÿche (/ ˈ k w iː n z r aɪ k /) is an American progressive metal band. It formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington, out of the local band the Mob. [1] The band has released sixteen studio albums, one EP, and several DVDs, and continues to tour and record.

In the early 1980s, Queensrÿche was known as The Mob, a cover band that played songs from popular heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. [3] Their line-up consisted of guitarists Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton, drummer Scott Rockenfield and bassist Eddie Jackson.
The band's management insisted on Queensrÿche taking an image associated more with glam rock, glam metal or gothic metal. [4] [5] As a result, the promo photos and album artwork depicted the band members wearing trench coats, heavy make-up and perms. The cover of the Dalbello song "Gonna Get Close to You" was chosen as the album's first single.
Christopher Lee DeGarmo (born June 14, 1963) [1] is an American guitarist and songwriter, best known for being the former co-guitarist, backing vocalist, and primary songwriter in the progressive metal band Queensrÿche from their formation in 1980 until 1997, and with whom he played during their most commercially successful period.
They released a single and music video in the summer of 2020, reprising the old worship song “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand”. In 2023 the band officially reunited with original vocalist Rey Parra and has played venues at the BMI Event Center in Versailles, OH at events like Christian Music Festival and opening for Queensryche.
Jackson met drummer Scott Rockenfield in late 1979 [2] at Redmond High School, [3] and joined Rockenfield's band Cross+Fire in 1980.
