Kocheril Raman "K. R." Narayanan ([kot͡ʃeɾɪl ɾəməɳ nɑɾɑjəɳən]) 27 October 1920 – 9 November 2005) [1] [2] was an Indian statesman, diplomat, academic, and politician who served as the vice president of India from 1992 to 1997 and president of India from 1997 to 2002.
With 956,290 votes, K. R. Narayanan overcame his nearest rival T. N. Seshan who received 50,631 votes. [1] Narayanan was the first dalit to be elected President of India.
