Ismail Merathi (1844–1917) was an Indian Urdu poet, schoolteacher, and educationist from the Mughal–British era. His poems for children like Nasihat, Barsaat, Humaari Gaye, Subah Ki Aamad, Sach Kaho, Baarish Ka Pehla Qatra, Pan Chakki, Shafaq, and several others are part of the primary school curriculum in Pakistan. Pakistan’s tradition of poetry includes Urdu poetry, English poetry, Sindhi poetry, Pashto poetry, Punjabi poetry, Saraiki poetry, Baluchi poetry, and Kashmiri poetry. Sufi poetry has a strong tradition in Pakistan and the poetry of popular Sufi poets is often recited and sung.

Poetry Qazi Muhammad Shamshad Nabi Farooqi, better known by his pen-name Saqi Farooqi ( Urdu : ساقی فاروقی ), was a British-Pakistani poet who wrote in both Urdu and English. Best known for his modernist Urdu poetry , mostly ghazal's and nazm's , he has authored critical essays as well.
Poems written before 1905, the year Iqbal left British India for England. These include nursery, pastoral, and patriotic verses. "Tarana-e-Hindi" ("The Song of India") has become an anthem and is sung or played in India at national events. "Hindustani Bachon Ka Qaumi Geet" (National Anthem for Indian Children) is another well-known song. [1]
Qamar Jalalvi is regarded as one of the best classical Urdu Ghazal poets. His ghazal poetry has a unique simplicity of expression. A poet from the age of eight, Qamar Jalalvi's writing had become quite popular by the time he was in his 20s. He lived a life of financial hardship, working for many years at bicycle repair shops.

At the beginning of his career, his poetry was very romantic but later his poems addressed the lot of the labourers and he came to be called the "Šhāʿir-e Mazdūr" (lit "the workman's poet") by his audience.
