  2. Proof marks master list - Walther Forums

    www.waltherforums.com/threads/proof-marks-master-list.9870

Unfortunately the German proof-marks (at least the ones I could find) are all post-WWII. Given the early evolution of semi-automatic handguns (Luger P08 9mm, Colt 45ACP, FN Browning 9mm) I would guess that the Walther Model 1 must be pre-WWI in the German Imperial Era.

Identifying Walther P38 markings... So, I picked up this Walther today at the local gun emporium. I tried to find out as much about the pistol as I can. Based off some ordinary resources: Welcome to the P38 Web Site.... the technical data sheet, production numbers, etc, I seem to have narrowed down that my pistol was a 1941 production Walther gun.

  4. P38 slide stop not engaging - Walther Forums

Okay so I have a stash of P38 parts. Have some new slide stops (post war though). I put one in and it did seem to fix the problem. I also changed the sear spring and when I did that it the slide would lock back but drop when mag removed. Put original spring back in and it seems fine now. The sear spring looks different than post war new ones I ...

The other one was just a regular P38 (late war, AC 45, mismatched slide). I didn't win either, I think they went both over the $750 range. James in Denver.

Walther P38 problems. I am new to this forum and hoping to find help. I am currently working on a Walter p 38. Now I can use the trigger to pull and release the hammer (double action works) I can cock the hammer and then release it with the trigger.

  7. Post war P38/P1 serial numbers and dates - Walther Forums

My problem is, for example, the first year of manufacture, 1957, six digits are present for the serial number, but in that year any P38 pistols I see have only 5 digits. It also says slides have different serial numbers than frames.

That said the police P-38's are often faked because of the great collector's interest in Nazi police sidearms. Assuming yours really is a family documented WWII capture piece you have a very rare and highly collectable P-38. Source: German Pistols and Holsters 1934 - 1945 Volume II, by LTC Robert D. Walther P38...is selling a postwar steel-framed .22 caliber P38 model with black plastic grips for $2,695. If you want the same model with walnut grips, the price is $2,895. Hand-engraved walnut grips jumps the price up to $3,295. The alloy-framed model is a relative bargain at $1,495 -- with black plastic grips, of course.

  10. Post war P38 any way to tell if military or police? | Walther...

    www.waltherforums.com/threads/post-war-p38-any-way-to-tell-if-military-or...

I'm wondering if there is any way to tell a police P38 from a military gun. Just out of curiousity. The 1963 pistol has BW after the serial number and has the last 3 digits of the serial number on the slide, barrel, and locking block. I have been led to believe that the "BW" after the serial number is a "Bundeswehr" acceptance proof and that it ...

The 115-grain stuff that Winchester puts out in its White Box series works perfectly well in the P38, the P1, the P4, the P5, etc.
