The Duke Energy Building (formerly the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company Building) is a historic, 18-story, 269-foot-tall (82 m) structure in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was designed by Cincinnati architectural firm Garber & Woodward and John Russell Pope .
The Duke Energy Center played host to the 2012 World Choir Games when it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the awards ceremonies of the games. [9]In July 2015, the convention center hosted the 2015 MLB All-Star Fan Fest.
The building, along with the nearby skyscraper, the Carew Tower, was featured in the opening and closing of the daytime drama The Edge of Night from 1967 to 1980. Cincinnati had stood in as the show's locale, Monticello; the company that produced The Edge of Night , soap and consumer products maker Procter & Gamble , is based in Cincinnati.
Cinergy was created on October 24, 1994, from the merger of the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company (CG&E) and Kentucky subsidiary Union Light, Heat & Power (ULH&P) with Plainfield, Indiana–based PSI Energy (Public Service Indiana). Cinergy's Cincinnati headquarters, now known as the Duke Energy Building.
