Following the release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Iron Man 2 (2010), the timing and distribution arrangement of a possible third Iron Man film was brought into question due to a conflict between Paramount Pictures—the distributor of previous Marvel Studios films including the first two Iron Man films—and Marvel Entertainment's new corporate parent, the Walt Disney Company.
