This is a list of books written in the style of the King James Bible (excluding translations of the Bible derived from the King James Bible itself). Historian Eran Shalev has called this style of writing "pseudo-biblicism", [1] but it is also known as "Scriptural Style", or the "Style of Ancient Antiquity".
It is written in Early Modern English and refers to medical theories of the time (e.g. the four humours). [2] In it James blames the Native Americans for bringing tobacco to Europe, complains about passive smoking, warns of dangers to the lungs, and decries tobacco's odour as "hatefull to the nose."
James is a novel by author Percival Everett published by Doubleday in 2024. The novel is a re-imagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain but told from the perspective of Huckleberry's friend on his travels, Jim, who is an escaped slave. The novel won the 2024 Kirkus Prize and the National Book Award for Fiction.

Both novels received the Pacific Northwest Booksellers award; The Brothers K was a New York Times Notable Book in 1992 and won a Best Books Award from the American Library Association. [1]
