Mark Bagley (/ ˈ b æ ɡ l i /; born August 7, 1957) [1] is an American comics artist. He has worked for Marvel Comics on such titles as The Amazing Spider-Man , Thunderbolts , New Warriors , Venom and Ultimate Spider-Man and for DC Comics on Justice League of America , Batman , and Trinity .

Ultimate Spider-Man first saw print in 2000 under veteran Spider-Man artist Mark Bagley and writer Brian Michael Bendis, who expanded the original 11-page origin story into a 180-page, seven-issue story arc. The Carnage symbiote was derived by writer David Michelinie while Mark Bagley designed the character. The symbiote was perceived to be a darker version of Venom, and was created due to the writers not wanting a replacement for Eddie Brock as Venom. Carnage was in part only created due to Venom's immense popularity with fans.
