Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (IATA: ATL, ICAO: KATL, FAA LID: ATL) is the primary international airport serving Atlanta and its surrounding metropolitan area, in the U.S. state of Georgia. The airport is located 10 mi (16 km; 8.7 nmi) south of the Downtown Atlanta district.
Atlanta Regional Airport covers an area of 350 acres (142 ha) at an elevation of 808 feet (246 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 13/31 with an asphalt surface measuring 5,768 by 100 feet (1,758 x 30 m). [2] In 2016, the airport had 75,000 aircraft operations, an average of 205 per day: 99% general aviation and 1% military.
In 1975, in anticipation of a second international airport, the city of Atlanta purchased 10,165 acres (41.14 km 2) of land in Paulding for $925 per acre. As of 2006, it is the third most trafficked airport in Georgia with an average of 475 takeoffs and landings each day. [5] [7]
Auburn University Regional Airport covers an area of 423 acres (171 ha) at an elevation of 777 feet (237 m) above mean sea level. It has two runways with asphalt surfaces: 18/36 is 5,264 by 100 feet (1,604 x 30 m) and 11/29 is 4,000 by 75 feet (1,219 x 23 m).
