Dunn State Park is a public recreation area surrounding a 20-acre (8.1 ha) pond in Gardner, Massachusetts. The state park covers 132 acres (53 ha) and is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation .

The 6,000-acre property was the site of turpentining, logging, cattle ranching and farming operations within the last century. Located south of a sharp bend in the St. Johns River along Dunns Creek (which connects to Crescent Lake), the park was added to the state park system in October 2001. [1]
The Gardner State Hospital pioneered the use of cottage residences. In 1922, the seal of Gardner was designed by the native-born illustrator Harrison Cady . According to city code, the seal portrays Thomas Gardner standing in front of Crystal Lake with Mount Monadnock in the distance.

In his will Dunn gave a valuable piece of property to the city of Gardner. This land was turned into a public park and the pond was named Dunn's Pond, which later became Dunn State Park. Dunn was seen by the people of Gardner as a man of strong and marked personality who made the community conspicuous in the industrial and commercial world.
Dunn State Park in Gardner is participating in the 33rd annual nationwide First Day Hike event. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Pond House.
