The paper started out life as the Independent and, later, the Lake County Independent based in Libertyville in 1892. By 1921 the paper was known as the Waukegan Daily News and in 1930 it purchased the Waukegan Daily Sun (founded 1897) and merged the two papers to become the Waukegan News-Sun, a name it would operate under until 1971.
He lived in Lake Forest, Illinois. Moran served as state's attorney for Lake County, Illinois, as probate judge and as circuit court judge for Lake County. From 1976 to 1992, Moran served on the Illinois Supreme Court and was chief justice of the supreme court. Moran died in a hospital in Lake Forest, Illinois. [4] [5]

Grace Mary Stern (née Dain; July 10, 1925 – May 17, 1998) was an American Democratic politician who served in both houses of the Illinois legislature, but was unsuccessful in her 1982 run for Lieutenant Governor, which would have made her the first woman in Illinois history to hold elected statewide office.
