Riccardo Paletti (15 June 1958 – 13 June 1982) was an Italian motor racing driver. Paletti was killed when he crashed on the start grid in his second Formula One start.

Ralph Dennis (December 30, 1931 – July 4, 1988) was an American author of crime fiction, best known for his Hardman series of detective novels. The writer and anthologist Ed Gorman described him as "the most beloved obscure private eye writer who ever lived".
The estate was bought in 1736 by James Hardman, Esq. and his brother John Hardman, and it is likely that the present house on the site originates from this time. Hardman was a West Indies merchant and slave trader originally from Rochdale. [2] Sold to the Hardmans in 1736 for £7,700 and rebuilt in the Palladian style.
