The James W. Dalton Highway, usually referred to as the Dalton Highway (and signed as Alaska Route 11), is a 414-mile (666 km) [1] road in Alaska. It begins at the Elliott Highway , north of Fairbanks , and ends at Deadhorse (an unincorporated community within the CDP of Prudhoe Bay ) near the Arctic Ocean and the Prudhoe Bay Oil Fields .
The route, formerly known as the Dalton Trail, had been used for centuries by the indigenous people of the region and was heavily used during the Klondike Gold Rush. Dalton Gates is a hamlet in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. [1] [2] The site of the former level crossing at Dalton Gates. The hamlet was built up around the now disused railway station that formed part of the disbanded Richmond Line. The station building is now a residential property.
