This is a list of law enforcement agencies in Louisiana.. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics' 2008 Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies, the state had 348 law enforcement agencies employing 18,050 sworn police officers, about 405 for each 100,000 residents.
In 1824, the state legislature divided the parish into East Feliciana Parish and West Feliciana Parish, so that residents would have easier access to their parish seats. The Louisiana State Insane Asylum was the first state institution in the parish, established near the town of Jackson in 1847. [ 4 ]
