A star party is a gathering of amateur astronomers for the purpose of observing objects and events in the sky. Local star parties may be one-night affairs, but larger events can last a week or longer and attract hundreds or even thousands of participants. Many astronomy clubs have monthly star parties during the warmer months.

Rockland Astronomy Club has the weekend event for you. The 2024 Northeast Astronomy Forum & Space Expo, touted as the largest such event in the world, takes place at SUNY Rockland Community College.
The club typically meets from 7 to 8 p.m. every third Thursday of the month at King High School's planetarium. Meetings, which do not include a planetarium show, are free and open to the public.
The Astronomical League is an umbrella organization of amateur astronomy societies. [1] Currently their membership consists of over 330 [2] organizations across the United States, along with a number of Members-at-Large, Patrons, and Supporting members.
