The Coral are an English rock band, formed in 1996 in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside. [1] The band emerged during the early 2000s. [2] Their 2002 debut album The Coral, from which came the single "Dreaming of You", was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize [3] and listed as the fourth best album of the year by NME. [4]
Sea of Mirrors is the eleventh studio album by English rock band the Coral.It was released on 8 September 2023 through Run On and Modern Sky. The album was produced by Sean O'Hagan and features guest appearances by former member Bill Ryder-Jones, Cilian Murphy, John Simm and Love guitarist Johnny Echols.
The majority of The Coral songs are written by lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Skelly, with many songs also being co-written by keyboardist Nick Power. Lead guitarist Lee Southall has written some of their songs, whilst all members of the group have co-written at several points and the band has also written together in collaboration.
Utley has title credit on several albums, the first being an instrumental record with fellow Coral Reefer Band member Robert Greenidge titled Mad Music. Utley has produced or co-produced several of Buffett albums beginning with One Particular Harbour in 1983. Since 1981, he has toured with the Coral Reefers. [3]

Ryder-Jones was the lead guitarist with The Coral and played on the band's first five albums. In 2005, he briefly stopped touring with the band due to a stress-related illness. The catalyst for the album and the band's return from hiatus was in 2014 when lead singer and main songwriter James Skelly came up with "Chasing the Tail of a Dream," intending to record it with The Intenders, the backing band for his 2013 debut solo album, Love Undercover which also included The Coral members Ian Skelly, Paul Duffy and Nick Power.
James Alexander Skelly (born 16 August 1980) is an English musician who is the frontman of The Coral. He embarked on a solo career when the band went on indefinite hiatus in 2012. The band regrouped in 2015. Skelly is the cousin of fellow musician Miles Kane. [1]
