Garage Inc. is a compilation album of cover songs by American heavy metal band Metallica.It was released on November 24, 1998, through Elektra Records.It includes cover songs, B-side covers, and The $5.98 E.P. - Garage Days Re-Revisited, which had gone out of print since its original release in 1987.

After bringing in Jason Newsted to replace Burton, [1] Metallica released the extended play (EP) The $5.98 E.P. - Garage Days Re-Revisited in 1987, which featured cover versions of songs by Diamond Head, Holocaust, Killing Joke, Budgie and Misfits. [5]
The band's first release to feature Newsted was The $5.98 E.P. – Garage Days Re-Revisited, and then followed by ...And Justice for All in August 1988, which peaked at number six on the Billboard 200. The track, titled "Last Caress/Green Hell", was released on Metallica's 1987 EP The $5.98 E.P. - Garage Days Re-Revisited, as well as on their 1998 compilation album Garage Inc.. [20] Beyond the Misfits arrangements, "Last Caress/Green Hell" also features the intro of the Iron Maiden song "Run to the Hills", deliberately played out of tune. [21] "
