The early line-up of the Gang Starr Foundation in the mid-1990s included Jeru the Damaja, Group Home, Big Shug, and Gang Starr. Premier was fully responsible for the production of Jeru the Damaja's first two albums, The Sun Rises in the East and Wrath of the Math. Jeru released three subsequent albums that did not include Premier's involvement. [1]
A music video for the single was directed by Chris Robinson and featured a cameo appearance by Tom Lister, Jr. [1] Originally, the video was slated to be a double-video shoot in conjunction with the cancelled accompanying single, "Supa Star", however, because Lil' Mo was assaulted during the closing of a San Francisco concert, plans were quickly changed to meet the deadline of mid-July 2001.
