Of those tickets, approximately 21,000 were reserved for each finalist club, with a further 10,500 available for purchase by the general public via the UEFA website.
A draw was held on 14 March 2008, after the quarter-final and semi-final draws, to determine the "home" team for administrative purposes. The final was contested by Manchester United and Chelsea, representing the first time the final had been contested by two teams from England.
