Casualty premiered on 6 September 1986 and was originally commissioned for fifteen episodes. The first series concluded on 27 December 1986, and following its success, a second series was commissioned. Casualty has continued running since, and the thirty-ninth series commenced airing in August 2024.
The thirty-ninth series of Casualty features a cast of characters working for the NHS within the emergency department of Holby City Hospital and the Holby Ambulance Service.
