Dell was the subject of a class action lawsuit in 2005 over some of their Inspiron laptops (models affected include the 1100, 1150, 5100, 5150, and 5160). The suit was filed in September 2005, and was officially settled between December 2006 and January 2007, in what is known as the Lundell Settlement. [ 8 ]
Affected models include the Dell Inspiron 1100, 1150, 5100, 5150, and 5160. Also affected is the Latitude 100L, a near-clone of these models. Dell acknowledged this problem and designed a new fan with a better heatsink and heatpipes to provide better cooling with less noise. Any repairs made at this point will include the redesigned parts.
