Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral that is the seat of the Diocese of Raleigh, replacing Sacred Heart Cathedral. The cathedral accommodates more than 2,000 worshippers and serves as the site for major liturgical celebrations, pilgrimages, and events for the Catholic community of eastern North Carolina.
The seat of Raleigh’s Catholic diocese can be seen for miles thanks to its copper dome, but the space inside is quiet, bright and welcoming.
Groundbreaking for the new Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral took place January 3, 2015. Built for $41 million and seating 2,000 people, [6] the new cathedral was dedicated on July 26, 2017. [7] Sacred Heart continues to be used for daily Mass, weddings, and funerals but no longer holds Sunday Mass. [8]
Soon after taking office, Burbidge announced the building of a new cathedral for the diocese, to be named the Cathedral of the Holy Name of Jesus. Building preparations began in 2013. [17] Groundbreaking for the new cathedral occurred in 2014, and the cathedral was completed in 2017. [18]

The Co-Cathedral of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, [1] also known as the Holy Name of Jesus Co-Cathedral, is the co-cathedral, or technical cathedra of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, about halfway between the New Gate and the Jaffa Gate, within the Old City walls.
