"Echoes" is a song by the English rock band Pink Floyd, and the sixth and last track on their 1971 album Meddle. It is 23 + 1 ⁄ 2 minutes long, the second longest of their discography, eight seconds shorter than Atom Heart Mother Suite, and takes up the entire second side of the original LP.
The song features his lyrics accompanied by an acoustic guitar, while a tape loop of a skylark sings in the background throughout the entire song. [2] At approximately 4:13, the sound of a honking Bewick's swan is introduced, followed by the sound of it taking off from water.
At a performance of the suite on 26 June 1969 at the Royal Albert Hall, Pink Floyd were joined by a full brass band and choir for the piece. Rick Wright played the Royal Albert Hall pipe organ and the work ended with a very loud recorded explosion. "A Saucerful of Secrets" has been performed by Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets since 2018. [13]
This version ends with a full stop but while Pink Floyd closed it on a D major, Waters instead opted for a B minor chord. Gilmour played the song on his Rattle That Lock Tour 2015–16, with an ending similar to that of the 1988–1989 tour. Waters performed the song during his 2017-2018 concert tour, released as the concert film Us + Them (2019).
