The culture of Fiji is a tapestry of native Fijian, Indian, European, Chinese and other nationalities. Patel, who used the slogan, "One Country, One People, One Destiny" [citation needed], suggested that all Fiji's citizens should be called Fijians and to distinguish the original inhabitants from the rest, the name Taukei should be used for native Fijians.
