The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a U.S. national lakeshore consisting of 21 islands (Apostle Islands) and shoreline encompassing 69,540 acres (28,140 ha) [1] on the northern tip of Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior.
The Apostle Islands are a group of 22 islands in Lake Superior, off the Bayfield Peninsula in northern Wisconsin. [1] The majority of the islands are located in Ashland County—only Sand, York, Eagle, and Raspberry Islands are located in Bayfield County. All the islands except for Madeline Island are part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
Manitou Camp is a logging and fishing camp started in the 1890s on Manitou Island, part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Today, as historically, Manitou Camp is used as a campground and as a facility for fishing. [2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983 and is owned by the National Park Service.

Sand Island. Sand Island is one of the Apostle Islands, in northern Wisconsin, in Lake Superior, and is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. [1] [2] It is located in the Town of Bayfield in Bayfield County. The Sand Island Light, the Sevona Cabin, the Shaw Farm and the West Bay Club are located on the island.
Rocky Island is one of the Apostle Islands in northern Wisconsin, in Lake Superior, and is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. [1] Two listings on the National Register of Historic Places are located on the island: Hadland Fishing Camp and the Rocky Island Historic District .
