Nordfjordeid is the administrative centre of the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, western Norway. It is located at the end of the Eidsfjorden, an arm of the main Nordfjorden , west of the large lake Hornindalsvatnet .
The fjord is the sixth longest in Norway stretching 106 kilometres (66 mi) from the island of Husevågøy at the mouth to the village of Loen at the other end. The region encompasses the rough coastline of the Stadlandet peninsula to the Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier.

The coat of arms was granted on 15 May 2019 for use starting on 1 January 2020 when the municipality was established. The blazon is "Azure, "(Norwegian: NORSKE_BLAZON).This means the arms have a teal-colored field (background) and the charge is a two-part design with St. Sunniva on the left and a fjord horse on the right.

The village of Nordfjordeid was the administrative center of the municipality. Other larger villages in Eid included Mogrenda, Stårheim, Haugen, Kjølsdalen, Heggjabygda, and Lote. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the 469-square-kilometre (181 sq mi) municipality is the 215th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway.
Nordfjordeid is located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from the airport, but that includes a ferry connection. People in Nordfjordeid can also drive to Ørsta–Volda Airport, Hovden which from 2012 can be driven without using a ferry, but that is 78 kilometres (48 mi) away.
The ship is situated in the middle of the center, surrounded by interactive exhibitions that are mainly connected to the ship and the other burial sites at Nordfjordeid. [ 8 ] [ 9 ] The rear of the building features large rear doors and a ramp down to the fjord to facilitate launching of the vessel, something that happens on special occasions.
