Chennai Formula Racing Circuit, also known as the Chennai City Circuit, [1] is a 3.839 km (2.385mi) street circuit in Island Grounds, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It hosted the second round of the F4 Indian Championship and the Indian Racing League 2024 on 31 August 2024.
The 2024 F4 Indian Championship was the second season of the F4 Indian Championship. It was a motor racing championship for open wheel, formula racing cars regulated according to FIA Formula 4 regulations. The season commenced on 24 August at Madras International Circuit and concluded on 17 November.
The provisional calendar was announced in late February of 2024, albeit without any confirmed venues. [2] The venue of the first three rounds were later confirmed to be the Madras International Circuit in Irungattukottai, the new Chennai Formula Racing Circuit in Chennai and Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.
A car to compete in this category may not exceed €30,000 and a single season in Formula 4 May not exceed €100,000. There are 55 Grade Three circuits for a total of 56 layouts as of December 2024. Circuits holding Grade Three certification may host events involving "Category II Automobiles with a weight/power ratio of between 2 and 3 kg/hp". Since 2020, there is also a specific grade given for Formula E circuits; which is called as "Grade 3E". [1] [9]
