54 Parkside (presently the Apostolic Nunciature to the United Kingdom) is a large, detached house in Wimbledon, London, SW19, overlooking Wimbledon Common. First known as Winkfield Lodge, the property is the current diplomatic office of the Holy See in Great Britain .
It became Cheshire County Mental Hospital in 1920 and joined the National Health Service as Parkside Hospital in 1948. [3] After the introduction of Care in the Community in the early 1980s, the hospital went into a period of decline and closed in January 1997. [2] The main administration block was subsequently converted into apartments. [2]
