Felsted School is a co-educational independent boarding and day school, situated in Felsted in Essex, England. It is in the British public school tradition, and was founded in 1564 by Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich .
Stevenson-Moore was the son of a clergyman and was educated at Felsted School. Admitted to Peterhouse, Cambridge, he later transferred to Emmanuel College, Cambridge. [1] He joined the Indian Civil Service in 1885 and went out to Bengal two years later.
Fred attended Felsted School subsequently gaining a place to study at Clare College, University of Cambridge, his time at which was cut short by military service obligations. In 1944 he joined the Fleet Air Arm , a branch of the British Royal Navy responsible for the operation of naval aircraft, completing his training in America and the Caribbean.
Educated at Felsted School, where he was a scholar becoming head boy, Smedley read Economics at the University of Reading before being commissioned into the Royal Tank Regiment as one of the first university cadetship officers.
