The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez produces around 600 engineers every year. [48] A National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. (NACME) report for the 1996–1997 academic year indicates the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez graduated by far the largest number of Hispanic engineers. [49]
