In 1996 Marriott Hotels bought the Muehlebach and made it into an extension of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, a huge adjacent hotel originally built in 1985 as the Vista International Hotel. The George Muehlebach Brewing Company (/ ˈ m juː l b ɑː k /) was a brewery that operated in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1868 until 1956, when it was acquired by Schlitz.
