The main advantages of an enclosed stand are protection from weather which during rain/snow or high winds will help allow you to stay on stand all day and most importantly an enclosed stand gives you more freedom to move/stretch without being visible to deer. Even if you choose not to go fully enclosed I highly reccomend adding a bit of carpet ...

Basically it was a 4×4 fish house that we converted into a deer stand and man is it warm, comfy, easy to look out and shoot out of. This one costed us $480.00. We were worried about having my Dad sitting a few hours, now we can’t get him out of the stand to come and eat lunch with us.

Posts: 2389. November 3, 2009 at 5:13 pm #200893. I’m looking to finish my box blind project. I have the framework (untreated 2×4’s for the box on top of my treated base) essentially done, but I don’t want to fully put it out in the elements until I get the outside wall material on hand. We have some tin material to use for the roof, but ...

A place like these is likely to see a lot of deer movement and a lot of deer sign. The only exception to sit all day in a crappy spot in the state of Wisconsin is on rifle opener. The woods is a war zone in a lot of areas and people shoot huge bucks in places you never thought possible lol

Hunting Stands Hunters may use portable blinds or hunting stands that do not damage live trees and that are removed at the end of the hunt. Portable stands are those that are chained, belted, clamped, or tied with rope and do no permanent damage. Permanent blinds and stands are not allowed.

About 10 years ago, I was pricing out lumber for replacing a couple of permanent tree stands we had that were in bad shape. I always use treated lumber and I like big stands that give plenty of room to move if it becomes necessary. I also build full rails for safety and to serve as a rest.

I wouldn’t put anything smaller than 48×48. I have 52 x 56 double hung windows in mine. But I also have a shooting bench, tripod, and a couch in there. Couch is awesome for laying down prone for 600 meters. I also screwed in a oak strip 2×2 across the center of the window. That way if I drop the top section down to shoot while standing, I ...

Will you be using the stand for bow or gun hunting and how long will you be sitting in the stand. I do not think there is such a thing as an inexpensice stand that is comfortable, most portable stands will not be that comfortable for long sits IMHO. If you going to sit all day the most comfortable stand IMHO is a TreeLounge. If you are just ...

Not including trimming out some shooting holes, I can usually hang a stand/sticks in roughly 10-15 minutes depending on the tree.

Those are slowly going away. The median age of deer hunters in MN and WI is around 60. Things are going to look quite different in 10-15 years when half the people deer hunting now age-out of it. If we do not have hunter recruitment things will definitely look different in the future as you pointed out.
