Genesee County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,388. [2] Its county seat is Batavia. [3] Its name is from the Seneca word Gen-nis'-hee-yo, meaning "the Beautiful Valley". [4] The county was created in 1802 and organized in 1803. [5] The county is part of the Finger Lakes region of the state.
