Kindred (1979) is a novel by American writer Octavia E. Butler that incorporates time travel and is modeled on slave narratives.Widely popular, it has frequently been chosen as a text by community-wide reading programs and book organizations, and for high school and college courses.
Butler's books and short stories drew the favorable attention of critics and the public, and awards soon followed. She also taught writer's workshops, and spoke about her experiences as an African American, using such themes in science fiction. She eventually relocated to Washington. Butler died of a stroke at the age of 58.
Butler had planned to write several more Parable novels, tentatively titled Parable of the Trickster, Parable of the Teacher, Parable of Chaos, and Parable of Clay. [5] Parable of the Trickster was the most developed and would have focused on the community's struggle to survive on a new planet, Bow.
Albert Thomas Butler (18 January 1872 [1] – 6 March 1952) [2] was a prolific Black Country architect who worked from Cradley Heath and, later, from Dudley.Born in Cradley, Worcestershire, [3] his work included the extension to Cradley Heath Church of England Infants' School, the offices of James Grove at Halesowen, and the Cradley Heath Workers' Institute. [4]

Survivor is a science fiction novel by American writer Octavia E. Butler. First published in 1978 as part of Butler's "Patternist series", Survivor is the only one of Butler's early novels not to be reprinted after its initial editions. Butler expressed dislike for the work, referring to it as "my Star Trek novel." [1] [2]
